I took this photo last fall when out for a walk on lunch. That is the Robin Hood flour mill at the end of the track there.
Same shot desaturated with Photoshop gradient and a sepia filter added.
Not sure which one I like better. What do you think?

Julie, I like the first shot better simply because of the contrast of the green and the definition of the rocks against the dark sky. Much more interesting than the 2nd photo which simply conveys grey/bleak and no focal point. Just my honest opinion.
I agree. In the first photo the rocks, oily ground and the tracks themselves are much more interesting in colour. I thought the B&W had an old town feel to it though. But there does seem more depth to the first photo. I have been inspired by several fabulous B&W photos on line and so have been trying to find the right one to convert. I will keep at it.

I definitely like the 1st photo. The colors are amazing. I love the grey sky and the green grass

The first has such a great, ominous dark sky. Just goes to show that editing isn't always necessary.
