God is less interested in answering our questions than in other things: securing our allegiance, establishing our faith, nurturing a desire for holiness. —D.A. Carson

Monday's shots

Some photos of Monday...we are just hanging by the pool, walking the beach, gaining weight, getting fat and all ends soon. sigh!

Our pool routine starts with towels, suntan lotion, books and mags, the camera gear and a jug of guava/pineapple/coconut/orange juice with ice and lime poured into some pretty pool approved plastic glasses. ahhhhh
and can NOT spend a few hrs at the pool without them!!

He is on his third novel. He would be on his fifth but the work laptop and conference calls are eating up reading time.......
So while he "works" I play with my camera. Our condo is the one on the rt. 13th floor in the middle. We see the sun rise off the back deck and the sun set off the lanai. And this week we see the full moon over the ocean every morning. Thankful.

I am missing my MAC. This Dell PC of my husbands is, well, VERY slow. I have had to fix it in safe mode 4 times - no virus but having to revert to previous settings. I get Internet Explorer "NOT RESPONDING" messages every time I change anything, open anything or scroll down when posting and spell check in Google is not working. But then again I am on holidays so what's my hurry?
Time for an overhaul.... or a Mac book. :)
Please ignore spelling mistakes.

We missed the game, but got updates via texts from home. Looking forward to Sunday's Grey Cup.

Some beach shots from Saturday

if you click on the photo and zoom in you can see all the glorious details of an ocean wave hittig the shore

It was a lazy day and that is what vacations are for.
I know, I know, I was up at 5am getting full moon shots and the sunrise, but for obsessive photographer types that is also what vacatons are about. Sunrise and sunset - best light for photos!
It was extremely hot on the beach so we only lasted 3 hours. We did get a dip in the salty ocean - the waves are quite strong this time of year so it was fun getting tossed around - almost lost my bathing suit bottoms. Seriously - had to hang on to them - time to get out!!
It was fun watching the younger, fitter ones, play in the waves.
Spent the rest of the day lounging on the lanai and reading.

... a mai-tai, a photo pro mag on an Hawaiian beach with the man of your dreams... it just doesn't get much better!

another photo worth blowing up to see the details.

On Vacation  (this is not us btw - just  playing with the 70-200)

Friday poolside and other shots

So sorry to post these given the temps in Saskatoon but perhaps they will bring a little warmth????
or even spur you to start planning your next get-away?

This litte 1/2 inch guy climbed across my camera bag.
I knew there was a reason I brought the macro lens to the pool.

 These flowers are everywhere
One of our favourite times of the day - supper on the lanai.
Up at 5 am this morning and saw the full moon off the lanai
 - happy to have the tripod and remote trigger with me for steady shots.
It also helps to be on the 13th floor....
Although if it is clear tomorrow am I want to shoot this from the 5am I obsessed?
....don't answer that!
And if you are up at 5am to shoot the moon,
well you might as well "shoot the moon" and get the sunrise off the condo's back balcony.

The Camera Lens Mug

The Camera Lens Mug at the Photojojo Store!

THIS is # 1 on my Christmas wish list right now......just so you know. :)
Queen of camera-geek-dom.

uh...btw, I am a Canon girl!

Ko'olina Resort

Stopped in the very high end Marriott Ko'olina resort on the way to our very reasonable (read cheap) condo at Makaha. We had lunch, saw the hammerhead sharks, took a few photos, walked on the beach, acted like we belonged there and then headed to the NW corner of the island where we picked up our groceries for the next week and checked into our condo.

His and hers. :)
which is why we needed the long beach walk before heading on to Makaha.

The view of the Marriott lobby looking up...way up!

....our beach is WAY better at Makaha, no cool lobbys, manicured gardens, pool service, swanky restaurants with gorgeous drinks, but a fantabulous beach.
Wait - I do have poolside service..... AKA sherpa. :)

After 10 hours of airports, airplanes, hauling luggage and line-ups....

Tiki lights...
mai tai's at the infamous Dukes...
chats with friends under the palm trees...
a great nights sleep...
and a sunrise stroll on the beach...

A great start to a vacation.

To Young Men

“Young men, do not be too confident in your own judgment. Stop being so sure that you are always right, and others wrong. Don’t trust your own opinion, when you find it contrary to that of older men, and especially to that of your own parents. Age gives experience, and therefore deserves respect. “       J.C. Ryle

Eva and Mark

Uncle Mark came home for 10 days.

Praying this young man will soon find a firefighting or paramedic job in Saskatoon and move home!!!
We miss him so much.
Soon Eva will miss him too!

Idleness is the devil’s workshop, but so is busyness if, while we are busy here and there we fail in our main responsibility. —Vance Havner
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
