Il Divo - Amazing Grace

Please turn off the music to the left.

Wow - this is so incredible I went out today and bought the CD.

Hold on to your seats at about the three minute mark - you will have chills up your spine.

Amazing Grace was written by a slave trader who by the grace of God recognized his wretchedness before a glorious God who alone could save him from his life of sin. If you don't know the story behind this song and the writer, click here John Newton, Amazing Grace.

Hope you enjoy this. It brings tears to my eyes because I too was a wretched, lost, blind sinner, but for the grace of God. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Eph 2:8-9

Julie - Amazing Grace is a favourite of mine - makes me cry every time - no matter who sings it. But oh, Il Divo - I love all of their singing - even when they sing in Italian and I don't understand a word of it. It love when they sing Momma - have you heard it. More chills down your spine. I did a scrapbook accordion album project titled Momma and used the lyrics from that song they sang - it will be published this year sometime. I need to go buy this now though. When my Dad died 10 years ago, my sister and I were alone in his hospital room (she not too close to him), she was overcome with sorrow and grief and said we need to sing to him (we were leaving him behind - the funeral home would be coming for him to be cremated) - we sang Amazing Grace and we sang a song he used to sing when I was little "How Far Is Heaven". You have reminded me of the power of this song. Thank you. And Julie - Merry, Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year.

Yes Thelma, a very favorite of mine. and oh how I love how IL Divo sing this beautiful hymn. I listened to Momma too - beautiful. What incredible voices! So yes - it does not matter what language they sing in - it is beautiful!
So is it your accordion album that will be published? When, where?

Thanks for sharing about your last moments with your dad. How touching and how wonderful that you could comfort each other with these beautiful words from a timeless hymn. I am sure your Dad heard them too.

Merry Christmas and many blessings in 2009!

Wow! the contrasts in voices and music, the power, the gentleness. Oy! shivers all over! The bagpipes remind me of Nova Scotia, where I was born and a solitary trumpet played Amazing Grace while my dad was carried to his grave and not the least the reminder of just how great God is! Again I say WOW! They are coming to Calgary in May.

Yes Mrs Wizzle Oy! is right. LOL
They are not coming to Saskatoon and we can't go to the Regina concert (you know...daughters wedding and all) but when I phoned my DH at work today and suggested an Edmonton getaway in May to go see them, he was quite interested. Something to save for (besides a wedding)
