Wow - that was some game and I rarely watch sports. I was glued to the TV......except when I was in the kitchen getting chicken wings and S&S meatballs out of the oven... or talking wedding photos with our neighbors - but I saw almost all the goals and that last one in overtime - well it was just a great game with a great end!
Way to go CANADA!
The house is now quiet, the guest have all left with big smiles and my all purpose Sherpa has helped me with all the dishes. It was a fun afternoon.
Feeling proud!!

October 2009
Another digi calendar - Almost caught up. It will be fun to put these 12 pages into a mini (well not really mini but thin) album to remember my year.
and another digi page from 2003 of Mark signing up for the reserves.... back in the days when our son's were still just boys becoming men.

Challenge Post
Okay, Kate has passed on a Kreativ Blogger award challenge.
I am to tell you 7 little known facts about me.
As if you guys don't know everything about me!!!
Well, now you do!
1. In my high school and early University years, I was a tour guide at the Manitoba legislative buildings. Ask me anything about the Golden Boy - go ahead! I can't remember my postal code these days but I remember he is 13.5 ft tall (to his head - the web page is wrong) and covered in 23.5 carat gold. I spent the first 35 years of my life in the Peg and it is still home to me.
2. Well, Kate may like tofu, but I actually enjoy eating chicken livers - especially the way The Ivy makes them. Think of all that iron! There's not much I don't like to eat. I LOVE sushi.
3. I taught prenatel classes to expectant parents for 13 years in Wpg when I was a Public Health Nurse. I was pregnant when I taught too - that was fun.
4. I never follow a recipe. Ask my daughter in law - she asks me for my recipes and really I rarely have one I actually follow. I grew up with the "use whats in the fridge" mentality and just can't get away from it. I never measure either - always an estimate. Keeps the dishes down. Julia Child couldn't cook with me.
5. I played the violin for about 8 years. I would love to learn how to play the double bass.
6. I once sat three pews in front of Robin Williams in a church!!!
7. I can't fly in helicopters - they make me very, very sick! Sick for the ride and for 24 hours afterward. And I can't do most of the Disney rides either. As I think of it, long elevators rides are not great as well. Let's just say I like to keep my feet on the ground unless I am heading to a place with an ocean, sand and palm trees - then I have drugs to get me there.
8. And, like Kate and recipes, I never follow the rules - ask my husband. I don't play bridge very well. There must be some pirate in me somewhere.

More Mexico
I'm home and have been for over a week, but some time ago I promised photos of Puerto Morales..... so here they are.
Wish I had views like this at the end of my street.
And I will leave you with this today...
It is a 45min walk down the beach to Puerto Morales. But what a beautiful walk.
A Mexican life guard stand.
And I will leave you with this today...
A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal." The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him "Juan." Year's later; Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."

Instructions
In case you think it is easy to get photos of the two of you (which I posted on my 365 blog for the week we were away), I thought I would share the process with you. These are the instructins for people who remember their tripod but forget the fancy attachment part for their camera so they can put the camera on the tripod.
Step 1. Place husband and tell him to stay put so the focus doesn't mess up.
Step 2. Set the camera to remote trigger.
Step 3. Focus on husband and remind him not to move. He's getting distracted...
Step 3. Promise husband wonderful things if he will please be patient as you balance and prop the camera on a chair that is sitting within inches of the water.
Step 4. Jump into pool and position yourself making sure that the camera can see and sense the remote trigger.
Step 5. Try that again because it is not sensing the trigger.Okay and one more time.
Step 6. Assure your husband that yes you did set the remote trigger.
or maybe you didn't.....
yup, you did! It just wanted you closer... a lot closer.
husband is getting bored with staying in the same spot.
Step 7. Abandon the remote trigger and set it on a 12 sec delay.
Step 8. Promise husband good things again.
Step 9. Refocus and check aperature settings
Step 10 - Click the shutter release, jump in the pool, get in place and smile like you are super relaxed before the shutter goes off - you have 12 seconds.
Voila!
