Over 50

As most of you know (and Laura reminded me the other night with a small red gift) I am over 50 - about 50 and three week actually...so I thought I would share a little bit of wisdom and some of the benefits of being over 50.

PERKS OF BEING OVER 50
1. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.
2. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.
3. No one expects you to run - anywhere.
4. People call at 9 pm and ask, "Did I wake you?"
5. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
6. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.
7. Things you buy now won't wear out.
8. You can eat dinner at 4 pm.
9. You can live without sex , but not your glasses. ...um not sure about this one..doesn't it get better???
10. You enjoy hearing about other people's operations.
11. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.
12. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.
13. You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.
14. You sing along with elevator music.
15. Your eyes won't get much worse.
16. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.
17. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.
18. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.
19. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to manageable size.
20. You can't remember who sent you this list.

Have a great evening! ps - got my internet up and going - I rewired my connection at the wall - all eight color coded wires!! Good thing I had my glasses!! :)

Hi Julie,
I learned about your blog from my daughter Deborah who is a friend of Allie in Victoria.
I am a scrapbooker and I have enjoyed looking at your pages - particularly your very first page with the cut photos and all the stickers - actually, I sometimes still do pages like that!!
I wonder if you can answer a question I have - can you tell me what you mean when you talk about over lay when doing your scrapbooking pages. I know you're busy, but if you could share this with me I'd appreciate it since I am always open to new ideas for doing my photos.

Hi Maureen! Are you in Victoria? So good to hear from you! Overlays are like a transparency sheet - clear plastic sheet that you just 'overlay' on top of your pictures. The plastic sheet has varying designs printed on it. You can place your pictures in different ways under the overlay to get different looks - depending on the design on your overlay. Using different paper under your photos will also change the look of your page and the overlay. So the same 'overlay' can look very different on many pages. On my Mexico overlay page I placed the photos on a yellow paper, added the overlay and the words 2007 and Mexico and it was done. All the swirls and flowers (and the words "Just Perfect") are already on the overlay. It's that easy! On the wedding pages "Handsome" and "Beautiful" the overlays were just black swirls on the guys page and fancy black designs in the corners on the girls page. I just added the words handsome and beautiful with cut out chip board letters. If you are ever in Saskatoon - stop in at the store - we are just bursting with great ideas!

Hey Leica - I have to admit - this is really a fun and exciting stage of life. After pouring myself into my kids for 25 years (and not regretting one moment of it) I am enjoying the freedom to travel, work, play and yes go on dates (went to Ivy's last night). So my advice to all you youngins - love those kids to pieces and your husbands too, keep in shape - nothing heroic, housework is NOT a priority, look gorgeous when your guy walks in the door at the end of his day, indulge once in a while, get sleep! :) love you guys!

Hi Maureen, overlays are fairly comman- check your local store and if they don't have them, ask them to bring some in - perhaps ask for ones that you might find useful...baby, travel, sports, music, floral...there are many in a variety of topics. I have added my e-mail to the blog so feel free to e-mail me. :)
