Brothers

I love looking at these photos of the boys horsing around in the back yard with their boffing stuff. They always played together so well. I miss these home schooling days! Here we are with another page from the 2001 photo stack - can't always scrap book 8X10 photos of scenic Hawaii. LOL
Isn't this new line of basic grey (Archaic) wonderful? It is perfect for any outdoor or boy pictures! Love the rich, warm colours and fun designs which made this page a breeze to put together. Also found some old stickers in the stash and love the little quotes about brothers - funny. Allison is in the pictures, but she is curled up on the deck, wrapped in a blanket and lovin Sam the black lab. Probably the safest place for her when her brothers are boffing! I think this must be early May 2001.

Captain Jack

Harold loves dressing up but when you are 26, Halloween is about the only time you can get away with it. So here he is as Capt'n Jack Sparrow ~ and not a bad Capt'n either. He ordered the costume off the internet - E-Bay I think. I used the new cordination paper and a bunch of stuff from the pirate section of the store - yes JSI has it's very own pirate section - cool! Used some Jolee and other embellies so it was a more expensive page - but sometimes you just have to splurge and besides prima flowers just wouldn't do it!! LOL

Together

Together - which is where we like to be. What can I say, we are hopelessly in love. :) More of the Paper Loft (Now and Then) line. Oh you will be seeing me use this paper a lot! Flip it over to see beautifully distressed colours. I used a DaisyD rub on "Together" from my stash, the new Imaginise white flowers - they are sooo delicate, so pretty - perfect wedding flowers, a prima flower and sparkly Making Memories brad. Simple, but classy. I love the subtle heart in the background.

Relax, enjoy, friends

I love this picture of the six of us preparing supper in Hawaii. We looked soooo relaxed! And we were. The colours were perfect for a new line that just came in to JSI from The Paper Loft - it is the most beautiful and classy line of paper I have seen. I love it all and I know I will be using every piece of this. It is so beautiful I just may plan an album around this line. It is perfect heritage with the browns, creams, greys and very soft teal - but it can be used for anything - including Hawaii vacations. A few prima flowers, some pebbles and the letters are just adhesive backed foam that I put through the die cuts at JSI and inked a little - then stuck them on.

Flowers from my sweetheart!

Today was a full busy day at work with some nasty medical tests thrown in the middle of it ...so when I got home from work my sweetheart had bought me some absolutely stunning spring flowers. They were so beautiful that I spent the next 20 minutes photographing them. He went about getting supper ready since I was obviously consumed with my camera and my flowers.

His only comment was... "I feel a blog coming on"

Does this guy know me or what! LOL

cordless drill

I found this little video rather funny - it reminded me that life throws us for a loop now and then, leaves us speachless for a moment, perhaps in shock...and then we laugh at the humor in it all. Then we pick up the pieces and try to make it right again.

With thanks to my son (by long distance from Victoria no less) who attempted to show me how to upload this to U-tube from the video file it was sent to me in (so I could post it on my blog) ....only to discover half way through his very techno explanation which I was not getting at all, that someone else had already uploaded it to U-tube. Whew!! I wasn't up to learning anything technical tonight. Very long complicated day. But then I discovered that I can actually upload the video from my files on my computer right to my blog - silly me! Well isn't life grand when you figure stuff out....if only I could remember all the stuff I figure out so I don't have to figure it out all over again. That is called Short Term Memory Loss STML as we refer to it when we score people for Long Term Care LTC placement. Scary!

This is sooo funny...or maybe I just have a strange sense of humour. I think the ideal job is sitting in a board room with a bunch of creative people getting paid to think this stuff up - you know, like Darren on Bewitched!

XTREME courage

A page about my son who likes XTREME career joices - unlike his mother and father who prefer to make money sitting at a desk!!

Mark took this picture at firefighting school - he is a good photographer ( I wonder where he gets it from hehe) I used the new Bo Bunny paper that just came in called Xtreme Teen, some vellum, lots of ink and some K and Co firefighting stickers that Ralna brought in for me along with a firefighting album...so expect a shift from military to firefighting in my layouts for Mark.

Journalling reads... You always loved electronics growing up and were the first to take something apart and then get it back together…so naturally I had you pegged as an Electrical Engineer. It was so you, or so I thought until you came home from University at the end of your first year of Engineering and announced that this was NOT for you and you could never sit at a desk for the rest of your life.
You promptly joined the Reserves full time, took off for Kingston, jumped out of airplanes and then were off on the DART team doing duty over in Pakistan. I found a few more grey hairs – but surmised that you would soon get this all out of your system and settle down to a normal career at a desk just like your Dad and most other people we know – like your younger brother!
You talked of heading out on a six month tour of Afghanistan – which brought great fear and concern to your parents…and then one day you came home and decided you wanted to be a Fireman. Now many mothers would think this worrisome – but compared to Afghanistan it was a great idea! So here you are about to graduate from Firefighting School, you are now officially a First Responder and you are talking about maybe joining SAR – yes fire fighting and first responder stuff just not quite xtreme enough – you would now like to dangle from a helicopter in the middle of a raging ocean storm, or rescue a snowboarder hanging to a cliff because he went out of bounds.
I do believe I am starting to get accustomed to the idea of a son in a dangerous xtreme profession – because that’s where your servants heart is.. I am proud of all you have accomplished so far. And come to think of it, I spent more time in the Emergency Room getting stitches for you then all the other kids put together. So I really shouldn’t be surprised. I love you!

Friends

We now have a friends section at JSI - well sort of. Some new friends stickers and rub-ons just came in and they are gathered on the back wall - near music and Halloween and career stuff. And we are adding to it daily… so go check it out! We have all done a friends page! I have left the great vacation photos to get back to the year 2001 photos. I have to say good photos inspire me but alas I do need to get some of these wonderful family memories into an album. Allison and I flew to Victoria to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Feb 2001 and then took the ferry over to Langley to visit Allison’s friends. As home schoolers, we did a lot journaling...so how happy I was to find Allison's journal book, scan her page about our trip to Langley and add it to this page...there it is in her handwriting! I used the Deja Views Little Yellow Bicycle line, some new sticko letter stickers (friendship) and a little Cats eye ink.

Cordinations

The new coredinations has arrived at JSI and is selling quickly. Their web site has some short tutorials - which inspired me this early morning. :) Used a piece of wild Asparagus along with the distressed cordination paper, prima "daisy crazy"flowers. That gorgeous big red flower is BazzillBasics. Also used Stemma family tiles and brads and the family quote cards (all in the family section at JSI). Word has it that Ralna is going to have a "Friend" section too. I like that idea!
