Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

Don't you just love Christmas??? I do!! Since I have taken a break from all these photos of the summer of 2000 to do Christmas of 2000, I decided to pull out ALL my Christmas stuff - anything remotely connected to Christmas - get it out where I can see it and USE it!! I have almost 25 pictures of Christmas 2000 that I want to use - oh brother! So I have used 15 of them on this page -yeah!!!! I shrunk them all down and fit them on with a full page of semi hidden journalling about all out Christmas day traditions...there are lots of them.

These two pages were done with the new Cosmo Cricket "Be Good" Christmas line - along with their page headers, and tags and the Basic Grey Fruitcake line, along with Fruitcake tags, some scenic route rub-ons (love em) and some Creative Imagination puffy stickers (now when did I buy these?). Some old ribbon, some metal embellishments that I hope we get back in at Just Scrap It! one day and a Cosmo Cricket tag. Sounds like a lot, but when it is scattered all over your desk you just pick what works together from the old and the new and isn't that just a lot of fun! I love that with today's scrapbooking styles, anything goes. Be creative with whatever you have right?

Do I have a mess to clean up or what...but not until I finish a page on the annual Christmas Anne of Green Gables Gingerbread House and a page on our Christmas dinner table pics. Then Christmas goes away and out comes those fishing pictures! Speaking of which, stop in at Just Scrap it and see the hunt'n and fish'n section - right next to cats, dogs and other assorted 'pets'.

Blessings!

Anniversary book

I have had some people ask about the anniversary book. Sorry no photos of it - it was all done digitally but is uploaded to the Picaboo website. Try this link here. I am not sure if this will work since I believe the website only allow people whose e-mail I give them to view. So if you REALLY want to see this masterpiece, then e-mail me your e-mail and I will add you to the list.
It looks like a book you would buy for your coffee table, but it is full of our family pictures and a message to my parents on the occasion of their 60th anniversary from 6 children and 13 grandchildren. Let me know if the link works....or doesn't. If you want to e-mail me, there is a link to my yahoo e-mail account on the side bar of my blog......oh so much techno stuff!

Farmers Market and "The Flu"

David and I visited the Farmers Market this weekend and besides the great fresh produce, the sidewalk entertainment was worth a 30 minutes listen. Five young high schoolers called "The Flu" (because they are catchy???)were set up and playing jazz - and they were good! The crowd was really into them and the bills were being tossed into their open guitar case - good for them! One wasn't actually a high schooler - I think the double bass player was in grade seven - and he was fun to watch - the crowd were calling for a solo from him...and he obliged - wow. His nose was just not big enough to hold up his sunglasses and they kept sliding off his face...but when he grows into them, if he keeps this up, he will be a star in Saskatoon. So here are some photos of our morning...

I haven't done any scrapbooking for over a week. Besides full time plus hours at work, I have been spending every spare moment working on a coffee table book for my parents 60th wedding anniversary. It has been a labour of love...hours of it, but it is done and off to the publisher and I know they will love it. The next book is of our Coney Island family reunion - much easier - my pictures and no text - yeah! - just great memories of our time together. It will go to publisher in a week. In the meantime I have to get Allison off to collage on the long weekend and Mark and all his belongings off to Brandon - I guess we will u-Haul it there since we don't have a truck. :) He needs furniture for his duplex he is renting...and a long list of other stuff. Then it is off to Victoria to the anniversary celebration ...and then it is October! :)

I do hope to stop in at Just Scrap It and buy those beautiful Christmas stamps that just came in. Then I will have to do a Christmas page!

Blessings!

What is love?

A little something to brighten your day. Touching words from the mouth of babes.

What does Love mean?
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 Year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." Rebecca- age 8

When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of Your french fries without making them give you any of theirs." Chrissy -age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss" Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"
Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."
Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well." Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore." Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken." Elaine-age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford." Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."
Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." (what an imagination) Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."
Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget." Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the Contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's' yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry"

do not attempt this on your own. :)

Romans 13:10 – Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
1 Corinthians 16:14 – Do everything in love.
Have a blessed day...and remember to love someone today.

Cosmo Cricket in at Just Scrap It

The new Cosmo Cricket "Be Good" line is in at Just Scrap It. And I love it. I have taken a well deserved break from the summer of 2000 pictures and am doing Christmas 2000. The paper is so rich and with all the embellishments that come with it, doing a great page is a breeze. Check out this line here. Then come into Just Scrap It before it is all gone. :)
Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year!

fellowship

I do hope all the Saskatoon people are enjoying this wonderful thunder storm - summer isn't summer without a few 'shake the house' crashing bangs. I am amazed the electricity is still on. :)

So no scrapbooking by candle light tonight. Another page catching up on the summer of 2000. A team from John MacArthur's church in California spent an inspirational 10 days (I think) with us. We met for fellowship in our garage Sunday morning, had fun at the Berry Barn, spent our mornings on the deck praying and a whole bunch of other stuff. It was busy and fun.

Using the new Basic Grey Mellow line here, the new white gel pens at Just Scrap It and some old rub-ons.
Thanks for looking!

Basic Grey fun!

I have to say my all time favorite paper is Basic Grey. It is the perfect paper for any outdoor pictures. I have had other favorites over the years - I love all the My Minds Eye line - but Basic Greay just has something about it that makes it so fun and easy to use. I am using six diffrent BG papers on these two layouts from about five different lines! That is the beauty of BG - you can mix and match different lines. Love it!
So more summer 2000 photos - this time the kids learning to waterski up at Emerald Lake.

Blessings!

Unconditional Love

The new Basic Grey is in at Just Scrap It - Yahoo!! It is beautiful. BUT...I had to finish up this layout before I let myself start something new - such restraint! here I am in the harbour in Victoria with my sweetheart - April 2005. (no I am not finished the summer of 2000 yet) but this photo begged to be put on a page. That is my nifty remote I am holding in my hand. :)

Blessings!

Summer 2000 layout

Another layout of the summer of 2000. Hard to believe that crew in the boat are the same gang jumping in my banner (plus a new daughter in law). David took all the kids fishing one quiet summer morning. I likely was cleaning the cabin and not sleeping in. :) Allison caught a small perch. She remembers! I have actually added a few more rub-ons to this page since scanning it.
Blessings!

New Layouts!

Where is everyone? My Google Reader tells me that other than Sharon - you are all on holidays! Or madly scrapping and ready to post a million layouts - I suspect the former! LOL

The family loved the Coney reunion album (see two/three posts down) and no one asked me about the cost!! strange. :) I took about 300 pictures at the reunion and so will do a coffee table book for the family - they can each order their own copy. Coffee table books are fun, fairly easy and a great way to archive lots of pictures - make a great gift too. I have made four so far - just ask me to bring them into Just Scrap It and I will show you. Check out PhotoInpress. A great company to deal with, Canadian - your book arrives in a week, and quite economical for a professionally bound book of all your favourite pictures. This is NOT scrapbooking, but a great way to archive the photos for future reference. I am also working on a family book for my parents 60th anniversary. time, time - where does it go?

Speaking of Coney Island, Kenora, Ontario - here is a two page layout from a summer visit there in 2000 - yes still working on getting the summer of 2000 into scrapbooks - man we did a lot of stuff that summer!!

April 2000 we visited my parents in Victoria B C - I went back to run in the Vancouver Sun Run! Yup I used to run - my knees can attest to every mile! Allison is sitting up on Moss Rock - a favourite look out we used to climb every time we visit Mom and Dad - still do!
Check out the heart in the upper right corner - fabulous new acrylic stamps in at Just Scrap It - I want one of each!

And here is a layout I did last night of a photo I took of my sweetie last summer. I love it when he plays his guitar - and he is sooo good. We sat this morning - me with my coffee, him with his guitar and he serenaded me - so wonderful - then he kissed me goodby and left for work - going on his eleventh day straight at work - yes he is very busy these days...it does release me to get scrapbooking done (and laundry - worked all week). The I Love you - is also a new Technique Tuesday acrylic stamp...so is the truely..madly...deeply!!

I did this page two years ago - but I love the photo - may even scrap it again. This is my almost 26 yr old son - just love the sun coming through his fine whispy hair!

Blessings to you all!

Photo Shoot!

Photo Shoot with Melina tonight! I am REALLY looking forward to this. It will supply me with at least a months worth of scrapbooking - but that aside I really treasure the times when all my kids are home and this week for five precious days they all are - so that means a photo shoot with Melina...and lots of food and fun!
Melina took the picture I have as my current blogger header. That was almost exactly two years ago!
Stay tuned for the results - coming up soon!
